Jay Gonzalez Endorses Michelle Wu for 2021 Boston Mayoral Campaign
Released: November 09, 2020
Boston, MA— Today, former Democratic nominee for Governor of Massachusetts, Jay Gonzalez, announced his support for Michelle Wu in the 2021 Boston mayoral race. Gonzalez formerly served as Secretary of Administration and Finance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as Chair of the Board of the Massachusetts Health Connector and the Massachusetts Board of Early Education and Care.
“I’m enthusiastically supporting Michelle Wu for Mayor of Boston because we need leaders here in Massachusetts who will aim high, fight for all those being left behind, and help Boston realize our potential,” said Gonzalez. “Michelle doesn’t need to be pushed forward; she leans forward. She won’t be a wait-and-see Mayor and she won’t make decisions at the behest of the same old people the same old way and behind closed doors; she will swing the doors of city government wide open where everyone can see how decisions are made and participate in making sure their interests are served.”
“I am so grateful for Jay’s support,” said Michelle Wu. “Jay has been a friend and advisor, opening the door for so many in public service. Over his career, he has always been a force for effective leadership and courageously stood up for the bold, urgent change we deserve across the Commonwealth. In this moment, we need change more than ever, and I’m proud to be building this movement with residents and leaders like Jay in each of our neighborhoods.”
