State Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz Endorses Michelle Wu for Mayor

Released on: September 18, 2021

Boston, MA— State Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz endorsed Michelle Wu for Mayor today, growing Wu’s coalition days after the preliminary election. Senator Chang-Díaz cited Wu’s leadership, vision and ability to partner with all levels of government.

"Michelle Wu is a fearless champion for Boston's working families. She has shown time and again the vision and grit to take on the big fights for this city—from paid parental leave to community choice energy. I know Michelle will be a strong local partner in delivering the bold, transformational change our state needs. I'm proud to endorse her for Mayor,” said Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz.

In her remarks at Villa Victoria, Chang-Díaz added, “When we start out by asking ourselves what’s politically feasible rather than what will actually solve problems, we negotiate against our own constituents. I want vision and delivery in my candidates. I want ambition and practicality. It is a status-quo preserving lie that we cannot have both. We have both right here. Michelle Wu is someone who can connect with all our communities across our city and build the multigenerational, multicultural, multiracial, multilingual coalition that we need in our city.”

“I’m honored to be supported by Senator Chang-Díaz, whose powerful leadership brings people together to take on big challenges. She fights hard for working people and has inspired so many across our Commonwealth. Our movement is continuing to build support and momentum with a coalition that is growing every day,” said Michelle Wu.
